Team 15 – Testing Prepared

Purpose of testing:

1. The usability of equipment:

  • Test the sensitivity of the pressure sensors.
  • Test if the state transition of the lighting effect is consistent with expectations
  • Test whether the size of circles on the floor needs to be adjusted.
  • Test whether the light effects are attractive for users.

2.Users’ behaviors:

  • Whether users stand as we expected.
  • How does one user interact with our installation?
  • How do two or more users interact with our installation?

3. Test whether this installation overtakes our design challenge and responds to our design brief:

  • Test whether participants communicate with others when they interact with our installation.
  • Test whether the distance influence and increase the interaction and communication between users.

Testing Plan:

  • Guide users to start interaction.
  • Observe users’ behavior and emotion.
  • Observe users’ movement.
  • Accomplish questionnaires.

Script:

Welcome to experience our interactive devices. During your experience, we will observe and record your expressions, behaviors and mobile data to help us improve our device. Would you like to participate in the test for us? We have set up two small tasks to complete. The first task is to ask yourself to try to activate our device. The second task is to invite others to participate in the interaction with our device. At the end of the interaction, we would also like to ask you to fill out the questionnaire to help us evaluate the device. Can we invite you to participate in our test?

Short Interview:

  • How do you feel about our installation?
  • Do you feel confused about this installation when you see it for the first time? If confused, which part makes you confused?
  • Do you realize some different effects when you stepped into the circle on the floor?
  • Do you have some suggestion for the lighting effects?
  • Do you realize different lighting effects when others are involved in the interaction?
  • Are you willing to invite others to experience together?
  • Do you think the size of circles on the floors is suitable for two people to stand in?
  • Do think the installation would be more playable when the circle is set smaller?
  • Do you think this installation provides a chance for you to communicate with others by inviting them to participate in the interaction?
  • How do you feel when you get closer with each other?

Hi team 15, your testing approach and data collection instruments are generally in good shape. Two things to improve:
    1. addition of playful experience evaluation
    2. Gender in questionaire: to meet ABS guidelines (https://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Latestproducts/1200.0.55.012Main%20Features242016), please add a category Other _____ (optional to specify).

Sorry about the gender problem, I forgot to put the “other” category when I typeset the questionnaire in AI. I have fixed it. Thanks for your reply. The playful evaluation would be added in the short question or interview after users test our installation.
